Skywatchers will have a unique opportunity to witness the passage of a celestial event this week as a comet known as Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comes close to Earth before vanishing into the depths of space. First discovered in January 2023 at the Tsuchinshan Observatory in China and later sighted in South Africa, this comet has been visible for nearly two years. Comets are icy celestial bodies that orbit the Sun, leaving behind long tails of dust. Originating from the Oort Cloud on the outskirts of the solar system, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS may not return for thousands of years or could even be ejected from the solar system entirely due to gravitational influences. Its closest approach to Earth, at a distance of 44 million miles, will occur on October 12, with experts predicting it to shine brightest on October 9 due to forward scattering of sunlight off its dusty debris. This phenomenon might make the comet visible even during daylight hours."Nichols expressed that Comet Iibility is a rare sight and worth observing. The comet will be visible to the naked eye from October 9 until the end of the month. To get the best view, experts recommend viewing from a dark location on the western horizon. If you want to see the comet after sunset, it will be low in the sky in the area where it has set. Although it may appear faint, using a telescope or binoculars can enhance the viewing experience. As October progresses, the comet may diminish in brightness but should still be observable. Don't miss this opportunity to witness such a lovely comet, as it may not be visible again in your lifetime. Stay updated on the Veer and Bulbul reunion in the latest Mera Balam Thanedaar episode.
